Dating website Beautiful People.Com has sparked it's fair share of controvesry and seems to have continued in that vein. Good looks are paramount and attractiveness is rated by the website's members who decide whether an applicant is accepted or not based purely on looks alone. Last month, when Beautiful People.Com was hacked by a cyber attack, thousands of new people were approved for membership. Now that the website is up and running again, over 30,000 members have been rejected becuase they are deemed to ugly based on their profile pictures. Unsurprisingly, this has sparked outrage.
The home page of the website hilariously states "Meet REAL beautiful people who actually look in real life as they do online" "Browse beautiful profiles of men and women without sifting through all the riff raff." But my favourite comments come from Managing Director and prick extraordinaire Greg Hodge."We can't just sweep 30,000 ugly people under the carpet. We got suspicious when tens of thousands of new members were accepted over a six week period, many of whom were no oil painting." A help line has now been set up to help the distressed rejects from the site. What vacuous imbeciles actually sign up to be fleeced by this mind bogglingly stupid concept? Yes looks matter but not to the extent of the Beautiful People mantra. I actually wonder if this is a clever PR stunt by them. Shallow, vapid and utterly ridiculous. Hilarious. You couldn't make this shit up.
