What's on @ The V&A?

God Bless the VandA for helping me beat my new year blues. Every year they out do themselves, what with all the talks, seminars and extra bits and bobs they put together, and this is on top of all the awesome exhibitions. The January - March timetable is bursting with must see talks, from some super fabulous people. Hurry up and book though...these are hot!

The Glamour Factory @ National Portrait Gallery

If you haven't seen it already, i bet the NPG's Glamour of the Gods (Gods of the old school Hollywood variety, in case you were wondering) is firmly on your list of things to see before it's too late... like before 24th October. Well, i say, make your visit this Friday! Why? Well, to coincide with their specially themed 'Late shift' night, of course. I feel there are many reasons for this, so i'm going to bullet point...

It is Free (good point to start with i think)
Talented pros will be on hand to transform you into a Hollywood star/let - unless you already look like one, in which case, kudos!
There will be themed 20's through to 50's music from the The Broken Hearts DJs, as well as cabaret from the likes of flapper girls, burlesque beauties and a 1940's take on a 21st century Ru Paul - very intriguing!
Debates, drawing classes, posing tips, a portrait photographer and a Walk of Fame are all on hand to keep you entertained.
Cocktails.
You could then go see the actual exhibition...
...but then, there is an after party at Cafe de Paris to get to...

The British Museum

The British Museum will never lose its charm to me. After walking through its grand entrance, you're hit by the mesmerising site of the sculpted ceiling and the wonderful shadows that bounce off every surface. I love visiting on a warm day when the air inside is thick and fuzzy, making the vast entrance feel kind of cosy. I sometimes visit just for this sight alone...

Science Museum Lates

One of the best things about London has to be the museums and what could be better than an adults only, alcohol friendly, fun-loving night at the Science Museum?? On the last Wednesday of every month the museum hosts its 'Lates' night which allows visitors to wander the floors, drink in hand, to the funky sounds of the in-house dj's. Every month has a different theme and as Wednesday's was 'the science of food' I just had to pop along. The much loved regular activities such as the silent disco (i love listening to people sing when they wear headphones) and the science based pub quiz were accompanied by themed events; musical vegetables, potato stamping, liquid nitrogen banana DIY (they make for great hammers, which the men loved!) and comedy based food shows.

This was an awesome night of fun and it was free! Can't wait to find out next months theme.
