A Little About the Future

Hey there!  This is Josh from the future.  Actually from the year 2130.  Seriously, no bullshit.  I know what you are thinking, how the hell can you be from the future?  Well scientists figured out time travel a few years back and they also figured out that you can go as far back as you want.  Do not ask too many questions, do I look like a scientist?

I realize your next question is probably "how are you still alive, you are 150 years old???"  Yeah, I am pretty old, but that is not too significant anymore.  Scientists figured out how to extend the lifespan of people, the average person now lives to about 200 years old.  Again, I am no scientist, so do not bother asking how this happened.

Now that we have all that kind of crap out of the way, you probably want to know what has been happening in the world.  Well that is what I am here to tell you.

    Politics
Things turned to shit in this country in the 2030s.  The economy sucked, the rest of the world surpassed us, we had serious problems.  It did not help that people were living to over 120 on average, yet the retirement was still 70.  Yeah, no one could figure out what the hell was wrong in the world.

Then the people elected Juan Rodriguez, our first Latino president (hey, in this entire time, we have still not had a woman president, haha, suck it feminists--just kidding).  He had radical ideas, one of them was raising the retirement age to 120.  He also decided to legalize marijuana and then tax the shit out of it.  He then decided to force Mexico to be part of the United States, divided it up into eight states.  Pretty much made the place a giant resort.  The rest of the place was used to cultivate weed (which was basically all they did down there to begin with).

All those fears about drugs ruining the country turned out to be false, people pretty much only smoked dope on special occasions.  Especially when the laws for other drugs became insane.  Caught with a little cocaine?  50 years in prison.  Tested positive for heroin?  Penal colony in Mexico.  People began studying and focusing more on becoming intelligent.  This became our greatest export:  knowledge.  Medical, computer, technological, whatever advancement you can think of pretty much happened here.

    Technology
Speaking of tech, you are undoubtedly wondering what the world is like in the future.  It took me about ten minutes to remember how to type.  We do everything with our minds now.  So much easier.  I do have some bad news though, still no flying cars.  No land-speeders, none of that cool shit.  Cars are cool now and they use an alternative fuel source.  I cannot mention what though, it would blow your mind, I will give you a hint:  you put it in your coffee.

    Sports
I do not want to spoil anything, but the Pirates eventually win the World Series.  I am not even kidding.  I will not say what year, but when they do win it, cherish the hell out of it.  You will not see another one.  Depressing, I know.

The Steelers win a bunch of Super Bowls.  After Ben retires, they draft a QB who is 6'7, 280, runs a 4.1 40 and can throw the ball 90 yards (some people believe he may be the first genetically engineered athlete, we fans say stop being jealous).  The Pens also win a bunch of Stanley Cups, so you will always have those two to make you happy.

The Yankees sign the first player to a $1,000,000,000 contract.  He is a short-stop from Ireland and ends up breaking the HR record.  He hits over 900.  They win a shit ton of World Series with him, most consider it a good investment.

People in America still do not give a shit about soccer.

    Random Stuff
-George R.R. Martin finally finishes A Song of Ice and Fire in 2056.  You were right, Jon is Rhaegar's son.  He and Daenarys rule the entire world.  Hope that does not ruin it for ya.

-Movie franchises start combining and become absolutely ridiculous, such as Fast and the Furious 21:  The Rise of the Raging Transformers.  Or Saw 87:  Jigsaw vs. James Bond

Oh and the most important thing is about your own future Josh:  You will end up
OH SHIT!  HERE COMES THE TIME-COP, I NEED TO RUN FOR IT!

Jill Scott:Light Of The Sun

Beautiful Jill Scott's album Light Of The Sun is no 1 in the american charts and I'm delighted for her. Whoop whoop! Go Jilly from Philly. Jill Scott is an amazing artist and I'm a big fan, I have her other albums. She's had a tough few years and after working hard for a long time she finally has her first no 1 album. It is so good to see this happen to an artist who's genuinely very talented. Jill was never a commercial artist so this success is what she deserves. She's also a fantastic poet and actress. Watch her in Anthony Minghella's The No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency playing a detective. She's brilliant and I can't wait to hear Light Of The Sun.

UK AIDS Memorial Quilt

In the run up to the Pride Festival this Saturday (you going??), Pride London has displayed the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt

in and around Soho.

The AIDS Memorial Quilt was created by US AIDS activist Cleve Jones on 1985, after a remembrance march in honour of San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone, who were assassinated in 1978. Jones asked that people create signs with the names of their loved ones who had lost their lives to Aids and to stick them on the San Francisco Federal Building. All of the signs combined reminded Jones of a patchwork quilt and so an idea was born…

The quilt now weighs around 54 tonnes and is the’largest piece of community art’ in the world. Each panel is 3 foot by 6 foot, the size of an average grave. It is described as a ‘creative means of remembrance, as well as a way to educate people about HIV prevention and fight the stigma of AIDS.’

The UK names Project created its own AIDS Memorial Quilt in the early 90’s, which is made up of 48 panels. Every panel is made and decorated by family and friends of someone who has died with HIV, to commemorate their life.

I really recommend that you take a detour through Soho over the next couple of days, to see some of these panels for yourself (there are 12 in total, click here for location details). They are beautiful in every sense and are a great way of maintaining an important message at the same time as conveying so much love through beautiful art.

The Blasian Persuasion 2

Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock. The former wrestler and actor is the son of a black father and samoan mother. GODAMN! The Rock is one of the finest men on the planet. I love his look, he's pretty lovely and hilarious.

Actress Pam Grier. Who can test the original Foxy Brown and chocolate skinned godess? Nobody. This is what drop dead gorgeous badassness looks like. Pam is part black and part indo west indian.

Model Naomi Campbell. The stunnning, out of this world cocoa skinned delight is jamaican and 1/4 chinese.

Hot damn! chocolate skinned model and actress Karin Taylor is ridiculously beautiful. She's half jamaican and half chinese. I've included her especially for all those idiotic, tiny minded racists who when they find themselves attracted to black women want to cling on to the belief that only half white black women are good looking. KO motherfuckers.

Clueless star and actress Stacey Dash.Wow, this chick is divine. This brown sugar is african american and indo west indian. She's also the cousin of hip hop mogul Damon Dash.

Sexy reggae artist Sean Paul is part jamaican and part chinese. I love the track he did with rapper Eve!

Quirky musician Kelis is one of my favourite artists. She's 1/2 chinese puerto rican and 1/2 black. What a beautiful couple she and Nas made! I was obsessed with them. Guys, please get back together!

Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas from TLC. This beauty is half black and half amerindian. I loved TLC, my favourite girl group ever! They were so funky and funny. They didn't take themselves too seriously. My older brother used to tell me who he fancied out of the group changed weekly, they were all equally hot yet tomboyish. RIP Left Eye. Chilli and Usher made such a sexy couple, I actually thought they'd get married. Chilli wanted to but Usher didn't, oh well.

Actress Denyce Lawton is part korean and part black. What a beautiful creature, she reminds me of Megan Good.

Jamaican billionaire Michael Lee Chin is jamaican and chinese. He's made the Forbes cover and list several times. Go Michael!

R & B singer Ashanti is half chinese puerto rican and half african american. She and boyfriend Nelly make a hot couple.

Fresh Prince Of Bel Air beauty Tatyana Ali is afro panamanian and indo trinidadian.

Gorgeous singer Olivia is jamaican and east indian.

Stunning former US figure skater Tai Babilona is half black and half fillipino.

Of course there had to be a part deux! People sometimes wonder what the product of a black and asian coupling will look like. But what on earth will the children look like? The racists and the curious often ask. Nothing wrong with being curious at all. As you can see, the children can be pretty damn stunning. I'm all for more black and asian yummylicious babies.
